Quality at Gadus, from raw material to end productQuality and food safety are central at Gadus in every step of the process. We don’t just claim we deliver quality – we prove it through a strictly managed, independently verified system. Show, don’t tell. Discover how we make this real every day through 9 pillars.

1. Full traceability from raw material to end product
Every batch of fish is fully traceable – from the place of origin to the final delivery. This traceability includes, among other things, catch and origin, transport, processing, packaging and distribution. Transparency and certainty for our customers are key. If there’s a question about a product, it’s possible to determine exactly where it came from and which steps it went through.
2. Daily walkthroughs and quality checks
Our in-house quality team performs daily walkthroughs in all production and storage areas. The focus is on hygiene, temperature, process discipline, freshness and product quality. Quality is a shared responsibility across the whole company – from production staff to management and everyone in between – everyone contributes to safeguarding the standards we set.
3. Self-checking and self-check certificate
Gadus has a self-check certificate and is audited annually. This confirms that our self-checking system meets all requirements of the sector guide G-032 V2, specifically for fish-processing companies. This includes HACCP, risk analyses, internal verifications, process controls and systematic sampling. The system is not static: we continuously evaluate and improve.
4. IFS-certified
Gadus is IFS-certified, an internationally recognised standard for food safety and quality management. The annual IFS audit confirms our processes meet strict requirements in hygiene, quality management, legal compliance and traceability. This guarantees our fish products are safe and high-quality. IFS is an ongoing commitment to the highest standards.
5. Quality assurance with suppliers
We work with suppliers who share our standards. All suppliers have a GFSI-recognised certification (IFS, BRC, FSSC 22000…) or complete an extensive quality questionnaire. Only suppliers that meet these standards are approved. We reassess our suppliers annually; their score is included in the management review. Quality starts with a strong chain.
6. Independent external controls
The FASFC (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) regularly conducts unannounced inspections. These external audits confirm we work according to all legal requirements and that our system is robust. We don’t see these controls as a burden. They primarily confirm that our approach works.
7. Collaboration with accredited laboratories
Analyses such as microbiological, chemical and sensory tests are conducted by accredited laboratories. Independent results confirm the quality and food safety of our fish products. We don’t rely solely on internal controls; we also validate our products externally. It’s an extra safeguard in our quality approach and monitoring
8. Quality checks by retail partners
Retail partners carry out quality checks and walkthroughs several times a week on our products and processes. Each check results in a written report that is followed up internally and, where needed, translated into improvement actions. This extra layer of control keeps us sharp and allows us to adjust immediately when necessary.
9. Continuous improvement
Based on internal and external audit results, internal data, complaint analyses and feedback, we continuously optimise our processes. Employees receive annual training to correctly apply quality and food safety principles. Standing still means moving backwards, so we keep investing in improvement, training and innovation.

The result: reliable quality, every single day
This system of checks, certifications and continuous improvement makes Gadus a reliable partner in the fish market. Our quality control is embedded in our approach and daily operations in multiple ways. Customers therefore know what they’re getting: products that consistently meet the highest standards. Quality is not a marketing claim. Quality is a daily effort.
